Vintage 1980’s Van Cleef & Arpels Genet Cat Brooch

A rare vintage Van Cleef and Arpels 1980’s Genet brooch in 18k rose gold.

From a discontinued Safari collection done by Van Cleef in the early 1980’s, the brooch depicts a rather unique Genet cat. In true 80’s style the cat is embellished with striking black enamel detailing which depicts the fur pattern of the Genet. The enamel travels down the curved tail which creates a striking contrast once worn. The face of the cat is further embellished by two cabochon rubies for eyes and round brilliant cut diamonds. The brooch is secured to reverse with a platinum double pin fitting with a roller clasp mechanism.

Due to the design and size, this brooch would be a perfect addition to a coat, lapel or jumper! Due to the age, every piece that Van Cleef created in this time was slightly different from the next which makes this piece a one-of-a-kind!

There is an estimated total diamond weight of 0.06 carats, ranging F-G in colour with VS clarity. For size reference the brooch measures 3.2 x 6.2 centimetres and there is a gross weight of 20.5 grams. The brooch is signed and hallmarked VCA, 750, 69, with the serial number 104018.
