Vintage 1970’s Van Cleef & Arpels Lion Brooch

A beautiful vintage Van Cleef and Arpels 1970’s lion brooch in 18k yellow gold and platinum.

Known as the ‘Lion Ebouriffe’ brooch, the piece depicts a sitting lion, handmade in yellow gold and platinum. The lion has been beautifully handcrafted and the gold has been carved to depict naturalistic features. The face is set with two vibrant emerald eyes, a diamond set mouth in platinum and a onyx nose. The face is the accented with six gold whiskers. The brooch is secured to reverse with a platinum double pink fitting with a roller clasp mechanism.

Due to the design and size, this brooch would be a perfect gift for that someone special. The 1970’s Van Cleef animals are extremely hard to come by and make perfect additions to jewellery collections. Due to the age, every lion that Van Cleef produced is ever so slightly different from one another which makes this piece one-of-a-kind!

There is an estimated total diamond weight of 0.15 carats, ranging F-G in colour with VS clarity. There is a total emerald weight of 0.06 carats. For size reference the brooch measures 2.6 x 3.5 centimetres and there is a gross weight of 13 grams. The brooch is signed and hallmarked VCA, 750, 63, with the serial number B10231119. French markings can be found on the lions tail also.
