Vintage Panthère de Cartier Emerald Eyed Panther Brooch

A beautiful vintage 1970’s Panthère de Cartier panther brooch set in 18k yellow gold.

The brooch depicts a walking panther and is set with two round cut emerald eyes. The contrast of the warm yellow gold against the vibrant green emeralds is superb and really makes the brooch stand out once worn. This piece really shows the excellent craftsmanship of the earlier Cartier pieces. Although only set with emerald eyes the body of the panther is substantial and beautifully detailed making the brooch extremely prominent, unlike your modern day panther pieces which are not as detailed.

Uniquely this brooch is signed J.C signifying Jean-Jacques Cartier an indication of not only its age but also its provenance!

For size reference the brooch measures 5.4 x 1.5 centimetres and weighs exactly 17.5 grams. The panther is signed and hallmarked with British markings, 750, J.C (for Jean-Jacques Cartier).

The brooch is fastened with a pin backing and is accompanied by the original box!
