An adorable little Cartier bird pin/brooch set in 18k polished yellow gold. The pin depicts a sweet little bird perched on an onyx set branch. Its wing is set with exactly 12 round brilliant cut diamonds and a singular piece of carved chalcedony to form its tail. Lastly the creature is then accented with a round cut ruby eye – a popular stone choice used in animal brooches.
The contrast of the green chalcedony against the white diamonds, black onyx and yellow gold is extremely elegant. Although the pin only measures 2 x 2 centimetres in length the variety of colour makes it stand out beautifully when worn on a lapel or jacket.
Estimated total diamond weight is approximately 0.25 carats, estimates as E colour, VVS1 clarity. Signed and stamped Cartier, 750, circa 1991. Total weight is exactly 6.9 grams.
