A quirky 1960’s ruby and turquoise cat brooch by Hans Georg Mauntner, set in 18k yellow gold.
What immediately attracts your eye to this cute little cat is his brightly coloured blue turquoise collar. The collar is set with five equally sized round cut turquoise stones securely four claw set around the cats neck. The cat has been beautifully crafted with a pronounced nose, whiskers and uniquely designed legs. To finish the brooch off the cat is also set with two round cut ruby eyes – a common stone used in animal brooches.
The brooch measures 3.3 x 2.9 centimetres and weighs exactly 16.54 grams. There is an estimated ruby weight of 0.10 carats. The cat is signed and stamped 750, HGM to the back on the tail and hallmarked 1965.
