Convertible Victorian Pearl and Diamond Brooch Pendant

A beautiful Victorian convertible diamond and pearl star pendant brooch set in silver-on-gold.

The piece is centrally set with a lovely 9mm cream pearl which is 10 claw set amongst a beautifully detailed star motif. The star is accented with 11 points which are all set with a mix of old mine-cut and rose-cut diamonds. The star is then haloed by larger old mine-cut diamonds which lift the central star plaque even more. To the top of the piece there is delicate filigree detailing with an additional hanging 9mm cream pearl. To the top we see further matching filigree detailing with a bail so that the pendant can be attached to a chain.

To the back of the pendant there is a removable brooch fitting so that the piece can be converted from a brooch and pendant. This design is typical of the late Victorian era where we saw a surge a convertible jewellery in the Art Deco era. What people may not know is that the Victorians were extremely symbolic with their jewellery design. The star motif is to signify everlasting love and the receiver of the piece is a ‘guiding light’ in their partners life.

There is an estimated carat weight of 4.80 carats, these range from I-J in colour with a ranging clarity of VS2-SI. The piece itself measures 5.8 x 2.8 centimetres and weighs exactly 11.0 grams (inclusive of brooch fitting).
