Many of our clients come to us for bespoke jewellery design and particularly for engagement rings. With such an important piece of jewellery it is important to both us and our clients that it is perfect. The benefits of having a ring custom made are that not only can the design be unique to you, perhaps a copy of an existing ring, but also the gemstones used in it can be selected for colour and clarity. Choosing the correct colours of gems can make all of the difference to a design and our gemmologists are at hand to guide you through the process.
The process for creating a bespoke item is the same whether it is a ring, bracelet or necklace. The first step is to get in contact with us to make an appointment. During your design consultation we will discuss the ideas for your bespoke jewellery and create a mount design for you while broadly choosing gemstones.
At the following consultation we will select the gemstones that have been chosen for your design. This will allow us to view them together as a group as well as selecting the precious metal for your mount.
The final step is handmaking the mount in our workshop and setting the gemstones. We will keep you up to date with the progress until it is ready for the final fitting. Your ring may need resizing at the final fitting which we can generally do the next day.
On completing the design we will provide you with a written insurance valuation and professional photographs.
If you have been bought or been given a piece of jewellery that you no longer wear, either because of the style or because your tastes have changed then we can remodel this into a new piece for you. You can keep the history of the jewellery but not the style.
Typical examples of this include transforming a pair of earrings into an engagement ring. Old style rings, such as Victorian clusters can be remodelled into a necklace.
