A Victorian owl fob pendant circa 1870
An exquisite Victorian hand carved owl fob pendant from the mid Victorian era. Beautifully made with gold bevelled edge collet the owl head is realistically carved from natural agate and using the natural colours in the layers of the stone it cleverly depicts the feathered face of the owl. It is set within a detailed gold border and then is surmounted by a half border of gold which is pinned each side to allow the pendant to spin . The pendant is backed with a veneer of different coloured Scottish agate, displayed in quarters.
Victorian gentlemen would wear fobs as a decorative accessory on their watch chains.
This pendant is a wonderful design, in good condition and is highly collectable.
