Out of stock
A brilliant late Victorian sword brooch set in silver-on-gold. The brooch depicts a knight’s sword with griffin wing styled cross guards with a central blue fleur-de-lis panel. The piece is accented with exactly 109 rose cut diamonds, with the three largest diamonds composing the grip of the sword. The top of the sword (the pommel) is then accented with a singular 2mm pearl.
Overall, this is such a brilliant little brooch! Considering its age, it is in fantastic condition with all its original rose cut diamonds. There has been some slight wear to the central fleur-de-lis navy blue enamelling however this is not noticeable when worn on a lapel or jumper. This aspect has not been repaired or altered to preserve the natural patina of the piece.
The brooch measures exactly 6cm in length and weighs 7.1 grams. It is fastened by a simple yet secure hook fitting.
