Oscar Heyman Star Sapphire, Diamond and Ruby Earrings, c. 1945

An exquisite pair of Oscar Heyman star sapphire, diamond and ruby clover stud earrings set in platinum, circa 1945. Each earring is designed as a trefoil composed of three natural unheated round cabochon star sapphires of a greyish-blue colour claw-set in open-back settings, the central one issuing two ribbons, one of them grain-set with round brilliant-cut diamonds and the other one channel-set with calibre-cut rubies, further accented by three claw-set round brilliant-cut diamonds surrounding the central cabochon star sapphire. The earrings are secured to reverse with a screw-back fitting. Each sapphire measures approximatel 6-8mm. The total diamond weight is approximately 0.50 carats, F/G colour and VS/SI clarity. The rubies have an estimated combined weight of 0.25 carats. Dimensions: 20x20mm. Gross weight: 14.03g.

Oscar Heyman is a highly regarded American jeweller, who used to manufacture for all the big jewellery houses in the early 20th century, before continuing his craft under his own name.
