A beautiful vintage 1980’s Panthère de Cartier panther brooch set in 18k yellow gold.
The brooch depicts a walking panther and is set with two round cut emerald eyes. The contrast of the warm yellow gold against the vibrant green emeralds is superb and really makes the brooch stand out once worn.
This piece really shows the excellent craftsmanship of the earlier Cartier pieces. Although only set with emerald eyes the body of the panther seems more substantial and is extremely prominent, unlike your modern day panther pieces which are not as detailed.
For size reference the brooch measures 5.1 x 1.5 centimetres and weighs exactly 16.8 grams. The panther is signed and hallmarked with French markings, Cartier, 750, with the serial number 706897. The brooch is fastened with a double pin backing.
