Vintage Cartier Diamond and Cabochon Sapphire Panther Ring

A rare Cartier diamond and sapphire panther ring, from the ‘Panthère de Cartier’ collection, set in platinum.

In the brand’s iconic panther motif, this ring depicts a sitting panther, stylized so that it appears to be resting on the wearers finger. The panther has been beautifully crafted in platinum and is completely pavè set throughout with round brilliant cut diamonds. Cabochon blue sapphires are scattered across the panthers body which is a subtle colour contrast amongst the sparkle. The maker has cleverly positioned the gemstones so that the wearer can still clearly see the naturalistic features of the feline, such as its cheeks and legs. The tail beautifully curves around the finger and acts as a band. Lastly the panther face is set with two perfectly matched emerald eyes and a onyx nose.

This panther is no longer sold in Cartier and is particular sought after on the vintage market. The contrast of the emeralds against the white diamonds is superb and although a minor feature. stand out beautifully once worn.

There is a total of 253 round brilliant cut diamonds within the piece, estimated to have a total diamond weight of 3.10 carats. These diamond range D-G in colour with VVS-VS clarity. The ring is currently a Cartier finger size 50 (UK size K, USA size 5 ¼), due to the design this cannot be resized! For size reference the panther measure sits 1.2 centimetres off the wearers finger. The panther does come with the original Cartier box however no papers.

The panther is signed and hallmarked Cartier, PT950, with serial number 613711.
