A charming vintage Cartier Bird brooch set in 18 karat white gold, circa 1990’s.
From the discontinued ‘Colombo’ collection, the brooch depicts three openwork bird motifs; one of which being entirely set with intricate round brilliant cut diamonds. The brooch is secured to reverse with a post and roller clasp fitting
The beauty of this brooch all lies in the design! The smallest of the three birds can be detached from the others and worn as a pendant around the neck so that the wearer can wear the piece as a set.
There is a grand total 57 round brilliant cut diamonds which have an estimated total diamond weight of 2.30 carats. These diamonds range from F-G in colour with VVS clarity. Both brooch and detaching bird are individually hallmarked with French markings, Cartier, 750, with matching serial numbers 847673. For size reference the brooch measures 3.9 x 7.0 centimetres (form the widest points) and there is a gross weight of 12.3 grams. One removed the detachable pendant measures 3.3 x 1.1 centimetres.
