Cartier Emerald Walking Elephant Family Brooch

A beautiful family of walking elephant’s brooch set in 18k yellow gold, signed Cartier. This spectacular piece is called the ‘Tsavo’ brooch from the ‘Route des Indes’ collection which was a popular vintage collection in the late 1990’s.

The brooch predominantly features a family of walking elephants. The leading elephant has its trunk high in the air which is a common symbol of good luck. Behind the leader we then have a mother and baby linked together by trunk and tail. The parent elephants are embellished each with a single round cut emerald eye. The family walk across two rows of brushed gold bamboo sticks and the contrast of the polished elephant bodies makes the brooch stand out beautifully once worn on a jacket or jumper.

Total emerald weight is estimated at 0.02 carats. The brooch measures exactly 6.7 x 2.7 centimetres and weighs 31.0 grams. The Cartier signature can be found on the back on the larger elephant’s ear. Signed Cartier and stamped 750. Serial number R08023.
