Cartier 1960s Lapis Lazuli, Diamond and Sapphire Turtle Brooch
A vintage Cartier lapis lazuli, diamond and sapphire turtle brooch in 18-karat yellow gold and platinum, circa 1965. Modelled as a swimming turtle, the head, arm, legs and tailed are designed with engraved scale detailing in yellow gold, while the shell is formed of a series of lapis lazuli discs, each set with a round brilliant- or an Old European brilliant-cut diamond highlight rubover-set in a platinum collet, the turtle further embellished with cabochon sapphire eyes. The brooch is secured to reverse with a hinged double pin fitting. Dimensions: 3.9×2.5cm. Accompanied by maker’s box.
