An extremely elegant late Edwardian sapphire and diamond convertible tiara and earring set, in silver and gold, circa 1915.
This beautifully handcrafted tiara can be effortlessly transformed into a tiara and necklace proving to be an illustrative example of the versatility and practicality of the Edwardian era. Uniquely, the piece is accompanied with a matching pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings which is rare to find with older/grander piece such as this.
The masterpiece is composed of 19 graduating sapphires that sit proudly amongst a flurry of old mine cut diamonds. There is grand total of 100 old mine cut diamonds within the piece which adds the perfect amount of sparkle to the design. The matching earrings perfectly compliment the drops/spikes on the convertible tiara
The tiara/necklace has been assessed by our inhouse gemmologist as having an estimated total sapphire weight of 8.68 carats – all the sapphires were originally hand cut and are perfectly matched in a deep royal blue colouring. There is an estimated total diamond weight of 5.86 carats which are graded to range from H-I in colour with SI-SI2 clarity. The earrings have a total sapphire weight of 1.86 carats and a total diamond weight of 0.80 carats, identical colour and clarity gradings.
The piece is accompanied by our own Susannah Lovis bespoke fitted box. The necklace is secured with a modern chain fitting that detaches from the sides when being converted into a tiara. The earrings are also fitted with modern posts and butterfly fittings for extra security.
