Mellerio foldable diamond leaf brooch in yellow gold, French

A Mallerio Paris foldable diamond leaf brooch in 18-karat yellow gold and platinum, designed as two leaves with ridged yellow gold detailing throghout, one of them grain-set with Old Mine-cut diamonds with an inner platinum twisted ropework border, hinged so that it closes to show the reverse in similarly-decorated yellow gold with yellow gold ropework embellishments. The brooch is secured to reverse with a double pin and pull-clasp fitting. The estimated total diamond weight is of 1.88 carats, I-K colour (assessed) and SI-I clarity (assessed). Length 6.6cm. Weight 24.51g. Founded in 1613, Mellerio is one of the oldest family jewellers in Europe, still run by descendants of the Mellerio family. Marie de Medici was their first patron and their clientele went on to include aristocrats, courtiers and members of Parisian high society as well as European royalty.
