A stylish Art Nouveau hair barrette in yellow gold, signed Wiese Paris, designed with a scalloped oblong shape, with gold filigree detailing depicting floral, foliate and scrolled motifs, fitted to reverse with a clip. Art Nouveau championed hand craftsmanship and naturalism, with the free flowing line as its signature. These melodious lines can be seen in the weaving of plant stems depicted by the filigree detailing composing this barrette, making it the perfect complement to a woman’s flowing hair and feminine curves. Wiese (Berlin 1818 – Paris 1890) is regarded as one of the finest silver and goldsmiths of the 19th Century.
